IPI Query System – Pocket Edition API and Bulk datasets for publishers

  • The IPI Query System – Pocket Edition API is an interface to search and retrieve data from the central IPI database, hosted and maintained by SUISA. No changes can be made in the IPI system by using the API. The Pocket Edition API does not contain the relationship between multiple names of an interested party. The search and lookup data provided by the Pocket Edition API is based on a real-time replica of the IPI master system with the least possible latency relative to the master system.
  • The Pocket Edition includes Bulk datasets which are made available via (S)FTP.

Documentation is available here.

An IPI Pocket Edition online web application is in development and will be available to publishers by the end of 2025.

Publishers interested in accessing the Pocket Edition API and Bulk datasets are required to sign a User Agreement and pay an annual service charge as stipulated in the agreement. The Pocket Edition API and Bulk datasets are only available to publishers who are members of a CISAC society.

Publishers can request access to the Pocket Edition API and Bulk datasets by e-mail: ipi@suisa.ch.

Please provide your full contact information including your (main) IP Name Numbers.

CIS-NET RHA IPI

CIS-Net Rights Holders Access is a dedicated interface for Creators and Publishers to search and view certain Interested Party Information and Musical Works Information that is stored on participating Societies’ CIS-Net databases around the world.

As all Creators on a work must be identified by IPI numbers in order for the work to obtain an ISWC, publishers can use the IPI on CIS-Net RHA to perform lookup queries (for individual IPs) that return, where relevant, works associated with the IP to help the user establish they have found the correct IP.

This information is required to complete work submissions for the allocation of new ISWCs (e.g. using the ISWC Allocation Service).

Only music Creators and Publishers with a current affiliation with a CISAC CMO are eligible to sign up.

Documentation is available here.

If you are interested in the service please contact your Society of affiliation.

IPI Context Search

The new IPI Context Search allows music publishers to search for creator IPI numbers using a creator’s name and one or more known musical work titles. By enriching their internal databases with verified IPI data, music publishers can improve ISWC allocation, reduce registration errors at societies, and streamline royalty reporting and data exchanges with other partners.

This new service complements existing tools such as the IPI Pocket Edition provided by SUISA (who administers the global IPI database) and builds on CISAC’s suite of ISWC-related services supporting global metadata accuracy.

To access the service, you can complete the form available on the ISWC website here, and you’ll be requested to sign the Terms and Conditions for ISWC Related Services by Publishers.
